This short video showcases Union City Mayor and NJ Senator Brian Stack, Mayor Baraka, Civil Rights Attorney Martin Perez, Paterson Councilman Alex Mendez, Freeholder Tilo Rivas, Dominican Republic Candidate for President Luis Abinader, NYC Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras & others complementing Dr. Maria Teresa Montilla and her team of volunteers for a successful 2015 Conference on Dominican Affairs.

Brian Stack, Senator and Union City Mayor:
I think this Conference is great. I think it is great we are bringing people together, not only the Dominican community. We saw representatives of the African American community including the Mayor of Newark Ras Baraka, New York State Assemblyman Keigh Wright, who represents Harlem. I think that was great. I think it is important that we empower all Hispanics together. It is wonderful what we are doing here.

Ras Baraka, Newark Mayor:
It was a great conference; I thought it was very needed. People spoke about issues that are very important for our communities to try to build the coalitions that we need in order to gain power in our communities and in our neighborhoods to be able to create a better quality of life for our people. I think this is a great Conference. I think it should happen again, again and again. So, I applaud the organizers of this Conference for a great successful event.

Martin Perez, Esq., Member of the Rutgers Board of Governors:
This Conference is essential for the Latino community since its foundation. It is an annual event very important to discuss issues impacting our communities. From this conference many leaders have emerged as elected and appointed officials. This Conference is a school for Latinos and particularly a good example of unity for Dominicans.

Alex Mendez, Council Member, Paterson, NJ:
I support this Conference because it is a training school for elected officials.

Julissa Ferreras, NYC Council Member:
Let’s come together and elect progressive mayors, progressive council members and progressive presidents…We can do it, but we must do it united…
