CODA to Host Historic Summit of Doctors & Health Professionals to Mentor the Next Generation

Tristate Area— For the first time since its inception over sixteen years ago, the New Jersey Conference on Dominican Affairs (CODA) will convene a historic assembly of doctors, health professionals and medical organizations at its annual statewide Conference slated to take place on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 8:30am to 4pm.

With the exclusive media sponsorship of UNIVISION and PSE&G and with the collaboration of the Dominican American National Roundtable (DANR), the Latino Leadership Alliance, the National Dominican American Council and other entities, the Institute for Latino Studies (ILS) will host its signature Annual Conference at Rutgers University’s Robeson Campus Center located at 350 Dr. Martin Luther Kin, Jr. Blvd Newark, NJ 07102.

“This is a unique opportunity for those interested in the health professions and primarily students who would like to study medicine,” said Dr. Maria Teresa Montilla, ILS President.

The list of doctors, health professionals and health organizations include, Dr. Miguel R. Hernandez, chairman of the Dominican Medical Association (DMA) and DANR national vice president; Dr. Leonardo Paula, DMA Secretary and former president; Dr Aritmedes Restituyo, past president of the Association Hispana de Profesionales de la Salud (APHPSI); George A. Zeppenfeldt, Business Adviser to Manhattan Borough President and national president & CEO of the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives (AHHE), and chair of the Roundtable of Hispanic Professional Health Associations; Dr. Jose Goris, treasurer and past president of the Dominican Medical Dental Society, and Corinthian IPA vice president; Dr. Fidelina Santiago Alvarez from New England, Boston; Dr. Tagliony Pacheco from Valle Delaware, Philadelphia; Dr. Marcelino Amezquita representing El Colegio Medico Dominicano of Florida; Dr. Pedro Ciprian, president of Colegio Medico de Puerto Rico; Dr. Pedro Nicasio, Secretary of International Affairs of Colegio Medico Dominicano of the Dominican Republic.

Each one of the participants will talk about their advocacy efforts to advance in the medical field by incorporating best practices and forming a coalition of doctors, health professionals and advocacy organizations to service better the people and inspire the emergence of new generations of health professionals in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, Florida and other urban centers in the United States.
